A plea for woman: being a vindication of the importance and extent of her natural sphere of action. Edinburgh. 1843. (Polygon, Edinburgh 1988 ISBN 0-948275-56-1)〕 which was published in the United States in 1847, 1848, 1851, and 1852 as ''Woman, her Education and Influence''. She was a member of the Ladies National Association for the Repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts.
